When the mountains are covered in snow, the Arlberg slopes appear like fresh bed sheets. The world-famous ski resort Arlberg consisting of 88 lifts and cable cars – with not only padded but also heated seats – belongs to the best and largest in the world for years. When modern skiing was founded here and brought to perfection, the family Brändle was there from the start.
In 1935, two years before Austria’s first ever T-bar lift was built in Zürs am Arlberg, Karl Brändle invested in the Hotel Arlberghaus in Zürs while running his own hotel in Langen am Arlberg. In return for the investment he received some shop space in the hotel which he could convert into a sports shop.
40 years later Karl Brändle handed the sports business over to his youngest son. Since then Hans-Jörg Brändle and his wife Elvira are running the sports business. At the entrance to the village Zürs right next to the Trittkopf lift in the building Zürser See, you can find the recently converted shop floor which contains the ski and snowboard department as well as the bistro with its large sun terrace and ice bar. This spot has since become the place to be for all Arlberg-lovers. Our fashion store is also in Zürs opposite of the Hotel Edelweiß in the former building of the Raiffeisen bank.
The Arlberg is known as the cradle of skiing. Olympic gold medallists of the past decades have grown up here. This is where kings and queens spend their holidays and where the world’s best skiers and snowboarders ride the slopes from the Trittkopf, Rüfikopf and Kriegerhorn.
